The head of this hydraulic crimp tool rotates 360° allowing easy accessibility and crimping in confined working areas. A power supply is not required for this hydraulic hand crimping tool which makes it ideal for off-site use. The compact and light-weight design of this hydraulic crimp tool also makes it comfortable for single-handed use. The interchangeable dies snap fit into the crimp tool head and crimping is achieved through repeated pump action of the handle. Once full crimp pressure is reached an automatic relief valve produces an audible click to prevent over compression. A RAM retract mechanism is actuated by the release trigger and the release is possible part way through the crimp cycle.   • What is the difference between un-insulated and insulated crimp tools?Un-insulated crimp tools are typically used for general applications, whereas the insulated crimp tools have been VDE tested up to 1000 V, designed for use where electrical current is present.How do you maintain the product?
  • Axles and other movable parts should be regularly lubricated.
  • Lubrication* is recommended at least every 10,000 cycles whenever the tool is exposed to contaminants.
  • Adjustment of the crimping die nests should also be checked. Readjustment of the pressure adjustment axle is necessary when the pre-load of the tool decreases significantly.The Importance of a High-Quality CrimpWhen a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between the conductor and terminal. The other is the insulation crimp which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is important that the electrical connection is gas-tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. If there any voids present, then corrosion can occur causing resistance and excessive heat which damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure that a full, gas-tight crimp is produced preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage.Operation1. Select the appropriate dies and locate into open head.2. Lock the head of the tool over the crimp connector, ensuring the crimp connector sits correctly in the die nest.3. Pump the pistol grip until the dies are fully closed. The crimp being completed on hearing a 'click' as the overload valve activates and releases pressure against the dies.4. To retract the ram depress the pressure relief trigger.5. To remove the dies from the head, grip either side and pull.6. The crimp may be inspected for conformance as the dies impress the size of the conductor that should be crimped. This figure may be inspected for conformity to the cable and crimp terminal sizes.Servicing1. After periods of use it may be necessary to bleed the tool and to refill the reservoir. This being evident through slow ram retraction or rough ram movement.2. Insert a set of crimping dies and operate tool until the overload valve activates. Invert the tool, positioning the reservoir up right and leave overnight. This enables air to rise to the top of the reservoir.3. Unscrew the oil reservoir cover exposing the reservoir filler plug.4. Remove filler plug and refill reservoir with Shell Tellus 15 or equivalent. Hydraulic brake fluids are NOT suitable.5. Operate the pressure release trigger causing excess oil and air in the system to be released as the ram retracts.6. Replace filler cap and oil reservoir cover, complete a further two actions of the tool in the inverted position. Tool is now ready for use.''
